For over 30 years, experts and authorities have been predicting the coming arrival of the paperless office. To be certain, computers have certainly reduced the amount of paper we believe we consume, and yet there are over four trillion paper documents just in the U.S., a number that increases at a rate of 22% (that’s approximately 880 billion documents) per year. In fact, the paper products industry is set to grow 29% in 2018.
We sure do love our paper. And nowhere—perhaps aside from the office—is this more apparent than in paper and stationery stores. Colorful notebooks with thick, creamy paper, or rough fiber paper in soft leather covers, daily calendars, monthly calendars, annual calendars, paper organization is still a go-to for many individuals.
The paper business is booming. So are these three stationery and planner retailers.
Blue Sky
Planning product company Blue Sky opened its doors 16 years ago, built on a simple idea to offer high quality, stylish planning products. They set themselves apart by incorporating customer feedback into their planner development to ensure that they are creating exactly the type of product consumers want and need to stay organized. To maintain their strong market presence, the organizing company needed to get—and stay! —organized itself.
Blue Sky sells via its own ecommerce site as well as several other marketplaces. In order to keep their [non-paper] data organized, they needed to make sure all their systems could connect and talk to each other. Using IN-SYNCH by ROI Consulting, Blue Sky was able to integrate its ERP, CRM, ecommerce platform, and multiple third-party shopping carts to fulfill and ship orders in a timely manner.
Altrua Global Solutions
Altrua Global Solutions is more than just print production as noted on their “about us” section of their website. “We are a trusted, passionate partner. We are fulfillment experts. We are designers. We are deadlines and product challenges made easy. We are makers of prototypes. We are visionaries – you visualize it, and we make it come to life.” Family owned and operated since 1979, the company achieved the Inc. 500 fastest growing companies in 2017.
In 2015, the company was referred to ROI Consulting by their Sage partner, so they could automate the exchange of data between Sage 100 and an internal SQL database. The company returned to ROI for the real-time integration of orders from their Shopify-based website platform in 2018. This enables Altrua to provide excellent service to their customers, like Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper, and McDonalds when ordering printed displays and graphics and many other products.
Webster’s Pages
Brother and sister run company Webster’s Pages began in 1986 and is devoted to high quality products for creative memory keeping. Notebooks and planners in fine textiles and soft suedes with irresistible charm top their product offering.
In order to get their products delivered to customers in a timely fashion, Webster’s Pages needed a better solution. So, they turned to ROI Consulting and brought IN-SYNCH on board. Through IN-SYNCH integration, they bridged the gap between their Sage 100 ERP and their Magento shopping cart to ensure that customers received timely and accurate tracking information for their orders.
Liberty Paper is becoming Liberty Greenleaf
Producing Paper Packaging from a closed loop recycling process deserves a mention!
Liberty Paper, Inc’s principles are simple and based upon the fact that their day to day activities rely either directly or indirectly on our environment and natural resources. They consider it a privilege to do business in the communities where they operate and to responsibly, scientifically, environmentally, socially, and economically engage sustainable practices that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
Their ability to “close the loop” keeps over 220,000 tons of old corrugated containers out the landfills each year and turns them back into new containers. In the coming weeks they will roll out a new name, Liberty Greenleaf, and a new, fully integrated WooCommerce-based ecommerce platform. The team at ROI Consulting is at work testing the integration and working on automating inter-company transfers. Stay tuned!
